Uttapam With Sambhar Recipe

It is a staple breakfast for lots of people, It can be easily modified and varied according to your liking. But even without any additions plain uttapam served with sambar in itself is delicious breakfast.

  • For batter

    Soak 1 tbsp rice, 1 tsp black urad dal for two hours and grind it to a smooth batter.

  • Ferment it overnight.

  • For sambhar

    In a kadai heat 2 tsp oil.

  • Add 1/2 tsp rai, 4 kadi patta leaves, 2 red chillies, 1/2 tsp haldi, 1/2 tsp red chilly powder, 1 tbsp sambhar powder and saute.

  • Add 1/4th cup julienne onion, 1/4th cup diced tomato, 1 diced drumstick, 2 tbsp chopped carrot, 2 tbsp chopped brinjal, 2 tbsp chopped pumpkin and mix well.

  • Now add 1/2 tsp salt, boiled tur dal, 1 tbsp tamarind pulp and allow it to boil well.

  • For uttapam

    Mix the batter in a bowl with 1/8th tsp salt and 2 tsp chopped coriander leaves.

  • On a heated pan, pour a ladle of the prepared batter.

  • Spread it and roast with 1 tsp oil.

  • Flip and roast until both sides are completely cooked.

  • Serve hot with sambhar.
