Spicy surmai fish curry with coconut and tamarind is a traditional Indian recipe of western coastal area.This recipe makes a soul soothing weeknight dinner when served with rice or chapatti.
Take 2 surmai fish pieces, add 1/4 tsp red chilly powder, 1/8 tsp haldi, 1/4 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp tamarind pulp, 1/2 tsp ginger garlic paste and marinate the fish pieces.
In a pan heat 1 tbsp oil.
Add marinated fish pieces and shallow fry it until cooked.
To the pan, add water, 1/4 tsp red chilly powder, 1/8 tsp haldi and let it simmer, 1.5 tbsp coconut milk and allow it to simmer.
Sprinkle 2 tsp chopped coriander leaves, mix and cook well.
Serve hot with rice.
