Sprout Modak Recipe

The most loved festival and sweet is Modak. A traditional Maharashtrian speciality, rice flour pocket with a jaggery filling is an iron-rich energy-dense sweet loved by all. Filling with sprouts enriches with protein and nutritious.

55.0 Ml(55.0 ml) Water
1/4 Cup(45.0 gm) Rice Flour
1/2 Grated Cup(41.0 gm) Fresh Coconut
1/4 Powder Cup(42.0 gm) Jaggery
1/8 Tsp(0.54 gm) Salt
30.0 Ml(30.0 ml) Water
  • For Filling

    In a pan, add 1/2 cup grated fresh coconut, boiled moong sprouts and 1/4 cup jaggery powder.

  • Mix all ingredients well till jaggery melts.

  • For Dough

    In a kadai, boil water as required and add 1/8 tsp salt, 1/4 cup rice flour and mix well.

  • Turn off the heat and knead a soft dough.

  • Allow it to cool, take a small portion of the dough, add prepared filling and shape into modak.

  • Prepare the rest, transfer the modak to the steamer.

  • Allow it to steam for 15 min.

  • Delicious sprout modak is ready to serve.
