Soya Khichdi Recipe

A sumptuous meal rich in plant-based protein, soya khichdi is popular comfort food to heal and replenish the body with necessary nutrients. Bone friendly sesame seeds give a bonus boost of calcium.

3.0 Tbsp(39.0 gm) Rice
2.0 Tbsp(34.0 gm) Tur Dal
3.0 Tbsp(17.0 gm) Soya Granules
1.0 Tsp(8.0 gm) Coriander Leaves
1/4 Powder Tsp(0.54 gm) Red Chilly
1/4 Tsp(0.6 gm) Haldi
1.0 Tsp(2.0 gm) Jeera
1/4 Tsp(1.0 gm) Salt
2.0 Tsp(6.0 gm) Ghee
220.0 Ml(220.0 ml) Water
  • Before cooking, soak 2 tsp of soya granules.

  • In a pressure cooker, heat 1 tsp ghee.

  • Add 1 tsp jeera and let it crackle.

  • Next, add 1/4th cup rice, the soaked soya granules and mix well.

  • Add 1/8th tsp salt,1/4th tsp each of red chilli powder and haldi and 2 tbsp tur dal.

  • Add a sufficient quantity of water, and stir.

  • Close the cooker with its lid and let the khichdi cook for 4 whistles.

  • Remove and serve, adding 1 tsp of chopped coriander leaves as a garnish.

  • Sprinkle white sesame seeds on top for a nutritional twist.
