Sarson Ka Saag Recipe

Sarson ka saag is a popular vegetarian dish from the punjab region of the Indian subcontinent. It is made from mustard greens and spices such as ginger and garlic. It is often served with makki di roti. It also promotes heart health by lowering cholesterol and is a great source of vitamin A, vitamin C and magnesium too.

2 Tbsp(13.0 gm) Maize Flour

1 Tsp(2.0 gm) Garlic (Chopped)

1/2 Tsp(1.0 gm) Green Chilli (Chopped)

1/2 Tsp(0.94 gm) Ginger (Grated)

1/4 Tsp(0.54 gm) Red Chilly (Powder)

1/4 Tsp(0.6 gm) Haldi

1/2 Tsp(2.0 gm) Salt

1 Tbsp(12.0 ml) Mustard Oil

1/2 Tbsp(6.0 gm) Butter

1 Tsp(4.0 gm) Ghee

As Required(200.0 ml) Water
  • In a pressure cooker,

  • Add 1 tbsp mustard oil, 1/2 tsp chopped garlic, 1/4th tsp chopped green chillies, 2 tbsp chopped onion, 2 tbsp chopped tomato. 1/2 tsp grated ginger and mix well.

  • Then add 1/2 cup chopped mustard leaves, 1/4th cup chopped palak leaves, 1/2 tsp salt and saute well.

  • Add 1 tbsp corn flour and mix well.

  • Add 100 ml water.

  • (Nestle twist)

  • Cover & cook for few minutes.

  • Blend into puree,

  • In a kadhai add 1/2 tbsp mustard oil, 1/2 tsp chopped garlic, 1/4th tsp red chilly powder, 1/4th tsp haldi and mix well.

  • Then add saag and mix well.

  • Put 1 tsp butter and serve hot.
