Mutton Masala Recipe

Mutton masala is delicious, soft tender chunks of lamb meat in heavily spiced onion tomato gravy. This is a generic Indian mutton recipe, but one can add up regional flavorings to match up your taste buds.

  • Heat 1.5 tsp oil in a deep kadhai.

  • Add some dry spices, 2 no. Black Pepper, 1 no. Black Elaichi, 1 no. Green Elaichi, 1/4 stick Cinnamon, 1 no. Star Anise, 1/2 no. Bay Leaf, 2 no. Cloves, and 1/4 tsp Jeera roast till aromatic.

  • Add 3 tbsp Chopped Onion, and saute till translucent.

  • Now, Add 1 tsp Ginger Garlic Paste, 1/4th tsp Red Chilly Powder, 1/4th tsp Haldi, 1/4th tsp Dry Mango Powder, 1/4th tsp salt, 1/4th tsp Garam Masala and fry the spices well on low heat.

  • Saute till it starts to leave oil.

  • Add water to adjust consistency, stir well and allow to simmer.

  • Add Cooked Mutton to the gravy, and cover with a lid.

  • Allow to cook on low to medium heat.

  • Garnish with 1 tsp Chopped Coriander Leaves and serve hot with naan or chapati.
