Moong Usal (Gravy) Recipe

Usal is one staple food in most of the Maharashtrian households as it is very easy to make and very nutritious as well. Moong dal is a nutrient-rich food. They're packed with minerals like potassium, magnesium, iron, and copper. Moong dal usal is high in protein, is quick and simple.

1/4 Tsp(0.37 gm) Garam Masala

1/4 Tsp(0.6 gm) Haldi

1/4 Tsp(2.0 gm) Red Chilly Powder

1/2 Tsp(2.0 gm) Salt

As Required(150.0 ml) Water
  • Heat 1 tsp oil in a pan.

  • Add 1/4th tsp rai, 1/4th tsp jeera, and let it crackle.

  • Add 2 tsp ginger garlic paste, 3 tbsp of chopped onions, 3 tbsp chopped tomato and saute well.

  • Now add 1/4th tsp haldi.1/2 tsp dhania powder, 1/4th tsp red chilli powder, 1/4th tsp garam masala and mix all the ingredients well.

  • Then add the cooked whole moong and the required amount of water.

  • Cover the pan with a lid and let it cook well in the gravy for 2 minutes.

  • Season with1/2 tsp salt and finally garnish with 1/2 tsp of chopped coriander leaves.

  • Serve hot.
