An all-time favourite sweet from Maharashtra, Modak is a rice-flour pocket with a jaggery filling that is high in iron and vitality.

1/4 Cup(45.0 gm) Rice Flour
1/2 Grated Cup(41.0 gm) Fresh Coconut
1/4 Powder Cup(42.0 gm) Jaggery
1/8 Powder Tsp(0.24 gm) Green Elaichi
1/8 Tsp(0.54 gm) Salt
50.0 Ml(50.0 ml) Water
  • For Filling

  • In a pan, add 1/2 cup grated fresh coconut, 1/4th cup jaggery powder and 1/8th tsp green elaichi powder.

  • Mix all ingredients well till jaggery melts.

  • For Dough

  • In a kadai boil water as required and add 1/8th tsp salt, 1/4th cup rice flour and mix well

  • Turn off the heat and knead a soft dough.

  • Allow it to cool, take a small portion, round it into a ball and press it from sides.

  • Prepare the rest, transfer the modak to the steamer.

  • Allow it to steam for 15 min.

  • Delicious modak is ready to serve.
