Malabar Mutton Curry Recipe

Tasty and delicious Kerala style slow cooker lamb/mutton curry. It is always better to cook mutton in a very low flame to retain its tenderness and moisture. This is an easy mutton curry recipe prepare in the Malabar side of Kerala. No special ingredients are needed for this recipe. It goes well with Ghee Rice, chapati, pathiri, Palappam.

  • Add 1.5 tsp oil to a kadhai.

  • Temper with 1 clove, 1 green chilli, 1/4th of a cinnamon stick and 1/4th tsp methi seeds.

  • Then, add 3 tbsp of chopped onion and 2 tbsp of chopped tomato.

  • Add 1/4th tsp each of red chilly powder, haldi, dhania powder, and salt

  • Next, add 1/8th tsp dry mango powder, 1 tsp ginger garlic paste and saute well.

  • Add the cooked mutton and sufficient water.

  • Add 1/4th tsp lemon juice and let it boil.

  • Season on top with 1/4th tsp garam masala and also add 1/8th cup of coconut milk.

  • Mix well and garnish with 1 tsp of chopped coriander leaves.
