Lentil With Vegetables (Dalma) Recipe

A hearty and nutritious Dalma is made with Masoor dal and various vegetables, resulting in a flavourful combination ideal for a weekday meal. It goes well with rotis or rice. A delicious way to end the week.

120.0 Ml(120.0 ml) Water
  • Take 1/4th cup masoor dal, soak for 15 minutes and keep aside.

  • Heat 1 tsp ghee in a pressure cooker, add 1/4th tsp jeera, 1/4th tsp rai and add 3 kadi patta.

  • Once they start crackling, add 1 tbsp chopped onion and sauté.

  • Once the onions turn golden brown, add 1/4th tsp red chilli powder, 1/4th tsp garam masala, 1/4th tsp haldi and pour in a little water.

  • Once simmering, add 1 tbsp chopped tomato, 1 tbsp peas, 1 tbsp chopped carrot, 1 tbsp julienne cabbage, 1 tbsp chopped cauliflower, 1/4 drumstick, previously soaked lentil and 1/4th tsp salt.

  • Mix well, pour in a little more water and cover to cook.

  • Pressure cook for 3 whistles, take off the flame and transfer to a serving bowl

  • Serve hot with rice or chapatti.
