Lentil Veg Oats Khichdi Recipe

A cereal pulse combination perfect for young children making the meal complete and highly nutritious. Masoor dal khichdi can be served with a side of fresh Nestlé A+ Curd or raita flavored with your choice of fruits or vegetables.

200 Ml(100.0 ml) Water
2 Tsp(8.0 gm) Ghee
1/2 Tsp(2.0 gm) Salt
1 Number(0.3 gm) Bay Leaf
3 Number(0.27 gm) Black Pepper
3 Number(0.33 gm) Cloves
1/4 Tsp(0.37 gm) Garam Masala
1/2 Tsp(1.0 gm) Jeera
1/2 Tsp(2.0 gm) Green Chilli Paste
1 Tsp(5.0 gm) Ginger Garlic Paste
1 Chopped Tbsp(3.0 gm) Coriander Leaves
2 Chopped Tbsp(25.0 gm) Tomato
1/8 Julienne Cup(14.0 gm) Onion
1.5 Tbsp(20.0 gm) Whole Masoor
  • Prepreparation

    Soak 1.5 tbsp whole masoor for 15 minutes.

  • For khichadi

    Place a pressure cooker on medium heat.

  • To the heated cooker add 2 tsp ghee.

  • Now add whole spices(3 black peppercorns, 3 cloves, 1 bay leaf, 1/2 tsp jeera and allow it to crackle.

  • Add 1/8th cup julienne onions and saute till golden brown.

  • Add 1 tsp ginger garlic paste, 1/2 tsp green chilli paste, 1/4th tsp garam masala and mix it well.

  • Add 1 tbsp chopped carrot, 1 tbsp sweet corn and saute.

  • Add 2 tbsp chopped tomato, 1/2 tsp salt, and water as required.

  • Add soaked masoor dal and bring to a boil.

  • Now add 2 tbsp oats, 1 tbsp chopped coriander leaves and mix well.

  • Allow to cook for 3 whistles.

  • Serve hot with Nestlé A+ Curd, raita or chutney.
