Lauki/Doodhi (Bottlegourd) Halwa Recipe

Bottle gourd halwa is a super delicious, melt in the mouth kind of desert. One of the all-time healthy dessert options, this dessert is enjoyed by all ages. It can be given to children as an afternoon snack or as a homemade treat after lunch or dinner as well. Bottle gourd or lauki as it is commonly known is low in calorie and super rich in micronutrients. Ghee is good for health as well when taken in small portions.

1 Cup(153.0 gm) Bottle Gourd(Grated)

1/2 Cup(102.0 ml) Milk

1.5 Tbsp(15.0 gm) Khoa

2 Tbsp(26.0 gm) Sugar

1 Tsp(3.0 gm) Badam (Chopped)
ingredients
1 Tsp(3.0 gm) Pista (Chopped)

1 Tsp(2.0 gm) Kaju (Chopped)

1/8 Tsp(0.25 gm) Green Elaichi (Powder)

1 Tbsp(15.0 gm) Ghee
  • Take a thick bottomed pan and heat it at a low flame.

  • Add 1 tbsp ghee follow it by mixing 1 cup grated bottle gourd. Cover and let it dry slightly.

  • Add 1/2 cup milk and allow it to boil.

  • Stirring this well, add 1.5 tbsp khoa.

  • Once this mixture is slightly thicker add 2 tbsp sugar, 1 tsp chopped badam,1 tsp chopped pista and 1 tsp chopped kaju.

  • Mix this well to ensure all the ingredients are mixed evenly.

  • Add 1/10th tsp green elaichi powder for a beautiful aroma.

  • Let the halwa cook for a few more minutes until the right consistency is reached.

  • Serve warm.
