Dal is a one of the best known sources of proteins for vegetarians. This is a simple, tangy, sweet and wholesome dish as we get the goodness in a single bowl of dal. Served with phuilka, parantha or rice.
In a pan, heat 1 tsp oil, add cumin seeds, and 3 leaves of kadi patta and let it crackle.
Add 1 tbsp each of chopped onion and tomato.
Saute all the ingredients well.
Then, add 1/4th tsp each of haldi, red chilli powder and salt and saute.
Add the cooked tur dal and 1tsp each of tamarind paste and jaggery and mix well.
Khatti meethi dal is ready to be served.
