Khakra Open Sandwich Recipe

A thin cracker made out of common kitchen ingredients, originating from the western India is a healthy snack or even a meal. A twist to the the traditional khakra is an open sandwich topped with vegetables, making it highly nutritious.

  • For khakra

    In a mixing bowl, add 1/2 cup wheat flour, 1/4th tsp salt, 1/4th tsp haldi, 1/8th tsp hing , 1/2 tsp red chilly powder, 1/2 tsp jeera, 2 tsp oil and water to knead the dough.

  • Roll into roti and roast the khakra, apply ghee on each side and cook completely on both sides.

  • For open sandwich

    On the prepared khakra, spread 1 tsp tomato ketchup.

  • Add 1 tbsp chopped cucumber, 1 tbsp chopped tomato, 1 tbsp chopped onion, 1 tbsp chopped boil beetroot, 1 tbsp chopped boil potato, 1/4th tsp chaat masala, 1 tsp chopped coriander leaves and 1 tsp grated cheese.

  • A healthy snack ready to be served.
