Kalo Jaam (Kala Jamun) Recipe

An evergreen and a favorite of all, a traditional Indian sweet, prepared at every festival in every household is the kala jamun.

5 Tbsp(44.0 gm) Milk Powder
2 Tbsp(20.0 gm) Khoa
1 Tbsp(7.0 gm) Maida
1 Tbsp(11.0 ml) Milk
3 Tbsp(39.0 gm) Sugar
1 No.(0.23 gm) Green Elaichi
1 Tbsp(15.0 gm) Ghee
For Frying(16.0 ml) Oil
As Required(250.0 ml) Water
  • For dough

    In a bowl, add 5 tbsp milk powder, 1 tbsp maida, 2 tbsp khoa,1 tbsp ghee and 1 tbsp milk.

  • Mix all ingredients well and knead into a soft dough.

  • Now, take small portions and make balls out of it.

  • In a frying pan, add oil and put the prepared balls.

  • Fry till it turns slightly golden in colour.

  • For sugar syrup

    In a pan add water as required, 3 tbsp sugar, 1 whole elaichi and boil till it thickens.

  • Allow it to slightly cool and add the prepared jamun into sugar syrup.

  • Soak for few minutes.

  • Remove from sugar syrup, garnish with 1 tbsp chopped pista.

  • Delicious kala jamun is ready to serve.
