Fried Idli Recipe

Fried Idli is made with mildly spiced sautéed vegetables and idlis. They are deep-fried until crisp and are mixed with curry leaves and other aromatic spices giving a slight twist to your regular plain idli.

3.0 Tbsp(35.0 gm) Rice
3.0 Tsp(10.0 gm) Urad Dal
0.45 Tsp(1.0 ml) Oil
41.0 Ml(41.0 ml) Water
1/4 Powder Tsp(0.54 gm) Red Chilly
1/4 Tsp(0.6 gm) Haldi
0.23 Tsp(1.0 gm) Salt
2.0 Tsp(5.0 ml) Oil
  • To make idlis, first, prepare a greased idli tray with 1/2 tsp oil.

  • Pour batter into the tray carefully into each mold.

  • Put the loaded tray into the idli stand.

  • Cover and steam cook the idlis.

  • Remove and let hot steam escape.

  • Chop into cubes when cool.

  • Next, to make the tadka, add 1.5 tsp oil into a pan.

  • Add 2 chopped idlis.

  • Add 1/4 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp each of haldi, and red chilli powder.

  • Toss well until the chopped idlis turn crisp.
