Dal Pakwan is a traditional dish, often made during festive occasions, and gives your taste buds all the right flavours. It is a popular and filling authentic Sindhi breakfast delicacy which comes with crispy pooris and spicy dal.

To make dal
In a large pot, heat 1 tsp ghee.
Add 1/4th tsp jeera and allow to crackle.
Add 1/2 tsp chopped green chilly and 4 kadi patta.
Saute till kadi patta turns crispy.
Now, add 1 tbsp chopped tomato and allow it to turn soft and mushy.
Then add some spices,1/8th tsp haldi, 1/4th tsp red chilly powder, 1/8th tsp black pepper powder, 1/4th tsp dry mango powder, and 1/8th tsp hing saute the spices well.
Add cooked chana dal along with 1/4th tsp salt and 1/2 tsp gud.
Mix and add water to adjust consistency.
Cover the vessel and allow to cook for some time.
Then, add 1/4th tsp garam masala powder and 1 tbsp chopped coriander leaves and give it a nice stir.
Keep aside.
To make poori
In a mixing bowl take 2 tbsp wheat flour, 2 tbsp maida, 1 tsp suji, 1/4th tsp black pepper powder, 1/8th tsp ajwain, 1/8th tsp jeera, 1/4th tsp salt, and 1 tbsp hot oil.
Rub the flour to mix everything together.
Add sufficient water and knead a tight dough.
Take a portion of dough and roll out a thick poori out of it.
Prick with a fork to avoid any swelling of poori.
Now to fry the poori, in a deep kadai heat oil for frying.
Once the oil is heated gently drop the prepared poori and fry it till it is golden and crisp.
Now, add green chutney to prepared dal along with some tamarind chutney, 2 tsp chopped onion and serve it with poori.
