Chauli Usal Dry (Cowpea Dry Vegetable) Recipe

Chauli usal is very common in Maharashtra, High in folate, fiber and protein helps in producing and maintain new cells.

  • First, cook 3 tbsp of chauli or cowpea.

  • Then in a pan, heat 2 tsp oil.

  • Add 1/8th tsp mustard seeds and let it crackle.

  • Add 2 tsp ginger garlic paste, 2.5 tbsp of chopped onion and 2.5 tbsp of chopped tomatoes.

  • Saute the ingredients well.

  • Next, add 1/4th tsp haldi, 1/2 tsp each of jeera and dhania powder,1/4th tsp garam masala powder and 1/4th tsp red chilli powder.

  • Mix well and add a little water.

  • Add the cooked chauli.

  • Add 1/8th tsp salt and saute well.

  • Finally, garnish with 1 tsp chopped coriander leaves and sprinkle white til for a nutritional twist.
