Chana Appam Recipe

Appam is a type of pancake, originating from South India. It is eaten most frequently for breakfast or dinner. Chana adds a very earthy, nutty taste to the appams making it a wholesome and healthy protein snack.

1 Chopped Tbsp(7.0 gm) Coriander Leaves
2 Tbsp(24.0 gm) Kala Chana
1 Tbsp(8.0 ml) Oil
3 Tbsp(30.0 gm) Suji
70 Ml(70.0 ml) Water
1/4 Tsp(1.0 gm) Salt
1/8 Tsp(0.35 gm) Hing
1/4 Tsp(0.59 gm) Jeera
1/4 Tsp(0.93 gm) Rai
3 Number(0.33 gm) Kadi Patta
1/4 Cup(60.0 gm) Nestlé A+ Curd
  • In a mixing bowl, add 3 tbsp suji, 1/4th cup Nestlé A+ Curd, 1/4th tsp salt, a little water and mix well.

  • In a pan, heat 1/2 tsp oil. Add 1/4th tsp rai, 1/4th tsp jeera, 3 kaddi patta, 1.5 tbsp kala chana, 1/4th tsp hing and stir.

  • Add the mixture the batter, 2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves and mix well.

  • Take the mould and brush it with 1 tsp oil.

  • Cover and roast the appams.

  • Flip and cook both side equally.

  • Serve hot
