Barley Upma Recipe

1.0 Chopped Tbsp(8.0 gm) Onion
1.0 Chopped Tbsp(13.0 gm) Tomato
2.0 Grated Tbsp(14.0 gm) Carrot
2.0 Tbsp(20.0 gm) Fresh Peas
1 Tsp(5.0 gm) Ginger Garlic Paste
1/4 Chopped Tsp(0.53 gm) Green Chilli
1/4 Tsp(0.93 gm) Rai
1/4 Tsp(0.59 gm) Jeera
4.0 Number(0.44 gm) Kadi Patta
1/4 Tsp(1.0 gm) Salt
1.0 Tbsp(8.0 ml) Oil
100.0 Ml(100.0 ml) Water
  • Heat 1 tsp oil in a frying pan. Add 1/4 tsp rai, 1/4 tsp jeera, 1/4 tsp chopped green chilli and 4 kadi patta.

  • Once it starts crackling, add 1 tsp ginger garlic paste, 1 tbsp chopped onions and saute.

  • Once the onions start turning slightly transparent, add 1 tbsp chopped tomato, 1 tbsp peas, 1 tbsp grated carrot and then saute again.

  • Once slightly cooked, add 1/4 tsp salt, mix and add the previously soaked barley.

  • Making sure all the ingredients are mixed properly, add a little water and cover the pan.

  • Allow it to cook for some time and then transfer to a bowl.

  • Serve hot.
