Bajra Dal Khichdi Recipe

Bajra Dal khichdi is a healthy, gluten-free one-pot meal prepared using bajra millet, tur dal and addition of aromatic spices, making it a nutritious meal option with mild flavours. It is can relished by people of all ages and is a winter favourite.

1.0 Grated Tbsp(9.0 gm) Carrot
1.0 Chopped Tbsp(3.0 gm) Coriander Leaves
1/4 Tsp(0.59 gm) Jeera
1/4 Powder Tsp(0.54 gm) Red Chilly
0.13 Tsp(0.3 gm) Haldi
1/4 Tsp(1.0 gm) Salt
1.0 Tbsp(8.0 ml) Oil
100.0 Ml(100.0 ml) Water
  • In a pan, heat 1 tbsp oil, add1/4th tsp jeera and allow to crackle.

  • Add 1 tbsp of chopped onion, and saute till golden brown.

  • Then, add 1 tbsp each of chopped tomato, grated carrot and 2 tbsp green peas and mix well.

  • Add 1/4 tsp red chilli powder, 1/8th haldi and 1/4 tsp salt and saute.

  • Next, add soaked bajra, and 2 tbsp tur dal.

  • Add sufficient water and 1 tbsp of chopped coriander leaves on top

  • Cover the pressure cooker with its lid and cook for up to 4 whistles.

  • Serve hot with your choice of accompaniments.
