Avial (Mix Vegetable Curry- Kerala Style) Recipe

Avial is a south Indian recipe which is popular in kerala and tamilnadu. It is a curry heavily made of coconut along with lot of healthy vegetables making it perfectly nutritious recipe. it is a side dish which is served with boiled rice or steamed rice. This recipe is specially made on the occasion of onam festival.

1/4 Cup(51.0 gm) Yam(Boiled,Diced)

2 Tbsp(19.0 gm) Fresh Coconut(Chopped)

2 Tbsp(29.0 gm) Curd

1/4 Tsp(0.93 gm) Rai

1 Tsp(2.0 gm) Jeera

1 No.(2.0 gm) Green Chilli(Medium)

3 No.(0.33 gm) Kadi Patta

As Required(40.0 ml) Water
  • Heat kadhai, add 1 tsp oil, 1/4th tsp rai, 4 no. kadi patta, saute well.

  • Then add 1/4th cup julienne french beans, 1/4th cup diced pumpkin, 1/4th cup boiled & diced yam & saute well.

  • Add 1/4th tsp salt & followed by coconut paste & mix it well.

  • Then add water & let it simmer. Cover with lid & cook for 5 minutes. Serve hot.
