Alu Wadi Recipe

Alu wadi is a savory dish heavily made with colocasia leaves which gives you health benefits along with the taste. This recipe is a popular maharashtrian delicacy. It is very light and easy to make and nutritious dish.

1/2 Cup(61.0 gm) Besan

1 Tbsp(14.0 gm) Rice Flour

2 Tsp(6.0 gm) Jaggery(Powder)

1/2 Tsp(2.0 gm) Tamarind Pulp

1/2 Tsp(3.0 gm) Ginger Garlic Paste

1/2 Tsp(1.0 gm) Haldi

1/2 Tsp(0.82 gm) Dhania Powder

1/2 Tsp(1.0 gm) Red Chilly(Powder)

1/2 Tsp(2.0 gm) Salt

1.5 Tsp(5.0 ml) Oil

As Required(30.0 ml) Water
  • In a mixing bowl, add 1/2 cup besan,1 tbsp rice flour, 1/2 tsp red chilly powder, 1/2 tsp haldi,1/2 tsp dhania powder.

  • Following this add 1/2 tsp ginger garlic paste, 1/2 tsp tamarind paste,1/2 tsp salt, 2 tsp jaggery powder and 1/2 tsp oil.

  • Add 30 ml water and mix well.

  • On a cutting board place alu leaf and spread the mixture on the leaf. Fold the leaves and spread the mixture on the folded leaves. Roll the leaves and place it in a steamer. Close with lid and steam.

  • Cut the alu wadi into slices.

  • In a pan add 1 tsp oil. Place the alu wadis and shallow fry it. Flip and fry.

  • Serve hot.
