What is Immuno Scale and how does it work?

AskNestlé has developed the Immuno Scale for you to measure presence of Immunity boosting nutrients in Child’s Food

Once you fill in the details of the food consumed by your child, Immuno Scale would analyze the content of the food on your child’s plate and will indicate the amount of Immunity boosting nutrients in that amount of food. It would also suggest measures to improve your Child’s immunity.

The scale has four colours and would indicate-

  • Red (Below RDA) : the body needs nutrients in form of food daily. Consumption of these key micronutrients as per the recommended range is essential to boost up immunity in your body. You need to consume as per the below recommended range.
  • Yellow: you are consuming but it is low, you need to increase the intake of these key micronutrients as per the recommended range to boost up immunity in your body.
  • Green : you are consuming good amount of immunity boosting nutrients. Continue the same and this would help you to maintain sustained immunity.
  • Red (Above TUL) : Adequate consumption of these micronutrients as per the recommended range is essential. It is a myth that consuming extra amount of these nutrients would be extra beneficial and hence consume within the recommended range.

The Immuno Scale would also help you to understand more about each key nutrient, suggest recipes and recommend articles.

  • What is Immunity?

Our body has the internal power to protect itself and fight infections, illness and diseases. This is called our Immune system. Stronger our immunity, stronger is our body’s ability to fight illness.

Immunity begins with food. When babies are infants, they get immune cells from mom through the placenta and breast milk. Over time, the baby’s system becomes mature and can fight off infections on its own.

A healthy lifestyle that includes sleep and rest, a balanced diet with exercise helps to strengthen a child’s immune system.

  • How to strengthen the Immune System?

Nutrition and Immunity are linked. Immune system relies on nutrients provided by the diet for its functioning. The most important micro nutrients that help boost immunity are Vitamins A, C, D, E, B2, B6 and B12, folic acid, beta carotene, iron, selenium, and zinc.

Including the important nutrients in your childs diet can help boosting the immune system in fighting infections.
